This is the first ever UK Singles Chart, consisting of 12 chart positions. The chart is later on compiled of the 200 chart positions we see today. The album chart was not compiled until 1956. There were also two number sevens, eights and elevens on the chart, which meant the singles had tied. The attitude towards ties kept alternating until mid 1954 which ties did not mean 2 or more of the same positions in the chart. See more detail on the UK Chart History page.
