iTunes have decided to end its free single of the week giveaway this year.

That may also mean no free songs to make way for New Artists 2015.

Before ending the single of the week promotion, iTunes have also decided to end the annual 12 Days Of Christmas/12 Days Of Gifts giveaway.

I don't know why they did that? Probably so that they could have enough money to make a new MacBook prototype or something!

I have found another chart source for 1952-present (the same lengths as chartarchive.org) on the http://www.old-charts.com/ site. I know we probably won't need this, but in case the worst should happen, we have got this site to work from!

A book titled 'British Hit Singles January 1940-October 1952' has been discovered, and we can add the charts from this period to the wiki. Though the lack of internet sources for this period may be a barrier to getting these charts uploaded, we can still add in what we can.

I have found a source for charts from 1950-1952 on this link. Just click on the Individual Record Charts and the year you want the charts from.

For each week you should title it as before (except there is no album chart) and add the categories Charts, YYY Charts, Incomplete Articles and The Missing Chart Weeks. Just copy and paste the tables in like we have been doing for the other charts!

All charts will be a top 30 with no album chart until the beginning of the 'known' charts in late 1952.

I actually thought Chart Archive had full charts up to 17/11/2012 (before OCC asked for the data to be removed) up until recently, where it was proved on the Chart Histories thread on UK Mix (see the Home page for the source) by user Hanboo that a top 200 has existed as far back as 1994, but Chart Archive insisted there was only a top 75 until 2006. And something which I never knew about was that it was briefly changed into a top 250 from 23/04/2005 to 08/03/2006, before being changed back into a top 200:

I am using this source to complete some of my song performances for the top 200, but if you come across any songs which have charted in the 201-250 part, please let me know!

I looked up Chart Archive on mostpopularwebsites.net, see for yourself here. Scroll down to the bit titled 'chartarchive.org Domain Information (Whois)' and it will tell you when the domain was created (March 29th 2008)and when it will expire (March 29th 2014). Mazadillon obviously isn't going to renew the site, so it will be completely out of data next year. I still use the site for first and last seen dates and positions and the top 100 weeks, as well as releases and artists.
